As I was lying on the wet cold ground to photograph some Adelies in the distance, this group decided to come closer and investigate what that thing was that was lying on the ground. This gave me a chance to take some nice wide-angle shots. I like this shot especially because I just noticed when I went through these pictures, that to the penguins the ice block behind them was like a huge mountain. I didn’t even really notice it when I was standing up. Seeing things from their perspective through my camera was super interesting. It made me respect these little birds even more as they climb up steep hills and navigate through fields of ice with their tiny feet, not really seeing where they are going.
As I was laying in the cold wet ground on the Antarctic peninsula this curious group of Adelies decided to approach me! It gave me a unique opportunity to photograph these birds from the eye-level perspective.
Adelies are remarkable little birds. Even though they might be small, they are known as the feistiest penguin species, taking on predators twice their size. Each of them have such interesting personalities, watching them was truly amazing.
